思いもよらない才能が自分の前に出現した時、人はどうすれば良いのでしょうか？

＃敵と見るか？

＃ライバルと見るか？

＃自分は自分、他人は他人と無視するか？

私の取った行動はその3つのいずれでもありませんでした。


正解は『師と仰ぐ』でした。


将棋の世界の話で恐縮ですが、

今は将棋連盟の会長をしておられる米長邦男さんは、数々のタイトルを取りながら
将棋の最高峰の”名人位”には手が届かないでいた40代後半の時期に
当時の若手で、どんどん頭角を表して来た現名人の羽生善治さんの存在を驚異に感じていました。


私と同じで、米長さんは菅野ショックならぬ『羽生ショック』を受けたのです。


その時、彼の取った行動は、はるか20才以上も年下の羽生さんを『師と仰ぎ』
ベテランのプライドを捨て、これも羽生さんよりもっと若い棋士達の勉強会にも
参加して、羽生さんの棋譜（将棋の記録）の研究を始めたのです。


「羽生みたいな若造に何が出来る？」
何て思わずに、謙虚に現在の自分の実力を知り、新しい才能の出現に畏怖すると同時に
尊敬する事によって自分のスキルアップを目指したのです。
